What is Accreditation?
- The primary purpose of accreditation is to ensure a level of educational quality by establishing and maintaining high educational standards. A training program seeking PAHRA accreditation is volunteering to have its quality compared to national standards established by industry professionals.
- Forces outside of governmental control drive accreditation development. Once developed, the accreditation may be adopted by governing bodies to establish parity comparisons for all similar training programs.
- Educators by themselves cannot accredit their own programs. The input of recognized non-governmental peers of their particular industry is necessary. All the factions of an industry establish the standards and then implement a process establishing an organization that will maintain the standards, perform the accreditation, and document the results.
